Origin

Plains and lower hills of India.

Action:

Plant—stimulant, carminative, diaphoretic.

Leaf—bechic, febrifuge; used in cold, bronchitis, catarrh, externally in skin diseases.

Essential oil—antifungal.

Seeds— hypoglycaemic; also used in the treatment of leucorrhoea and other diseases of urinogenital system.
